Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

The remainder of the day is free for relaxation after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the hotel, enjoy the garden surroundings, or prepare for the exciting safari ahead. In the evening, your safari guide will provide a detailed briefing about the itinerary, wildlife expectations, accommodation, and daily activities.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic wildlife destinations. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees, vast savannahs, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River, which attracts large numbers of wildlife throughout the year.

Spend the day exploring the park while searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, ostriches, and more than 500 recorded bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your afternoon game drive through different habitats, where your guide will search for predators and other wildlife based on recent sightings. In the late afternoon, drive to your budget lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for the world famous Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the journey, enjoy spectacular views of volcanic highlands, Maasai villages, and endless plains before entering the Serengeti.

Once inside the park, begin your afternoon game drive across the iconic savannah. Depending on the season, you may witness part of the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the world’s greatest natural events.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After an early breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive when wildlife is at its most active.

Search for predators returning from their nighttime hunts, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, leopards (if fortunate), and numerous antelope species. Guests may also choose an optional sunrise hot air balloon safari, followed by a champagne breakfast overlooking the Serengeti.  Arrive at your lodge near the crater rim in the evening and enjoy breathtaking views across the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Departure

Known as one of Africa’s best wildlife destinations, the crater supports an extraordinary concentration of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, flamingos, gazelles, and the endangered black rhino.

Explore grasslands, forests, wetlands, and the shores of Lake Magadi while your guide searches for wildlife and explains the crater’s fascinating geology and ecosystem. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool before ascending the crater and returning to Arusha.

Depending on your departure schedule, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport for your onward flight, bringing your unforgettable 5 Day Tanzania Budget Safari to a close.
