Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Chogoria Gate Trek to Lake Ellis
After breakfast, continue trekking through the moorland zone with stunning views of the surrounding valleys and peaks of Mount Kenya. The trail takes you past small streams and unique high altitude vegetation such as giant lobelias and groundsels. You will gradually ascend toward Mintos Camp, located near the edge of the dramatic Gorges Valley. The views here are spectacular, especially at sunset. This day helps further acclimatization as you gain altitude steadily.

Day 2: Lake Ellis to Mintos Camp

Day 3: Mintos to Lake Michaelson
This day is dedicated to exploration and acclimatization. You can take an optional hike down to the stunning Lake Michaelson, one of the most beautiful and remote lakes on Mount Kenya, nestled deep within a volcanic crater. The hike is challenging but rewarding, offering breathtaking scenery and excellent photography opportunities. Alternatively, you may relax around Mintos Camp and enjoy short walks in the area. This rest day improves your chances of a successful summit.

Day 4: Mintos to Austrian Hut
After breakfast, begin your trek toward higher altitudes, heading to Austrian Hut near the summit area of Mount Kenya. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine, with rocky terrain and sparse vegetation. As you ascend, you will enjoy close up views of the main peaks Batian and Nelion. This is a shorter trekking day to allow for rest before the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the early climb.

Day 5: Summit Point Lenana Descend to Meru Mount Kenya Bandas
You will wake up very early (around midnight or 2 AM) for your summit attempt. Trek under the stars to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) in time for sunrise, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views across Kenya. After celebrating your achievement, begin your descent down the mountain via the Chogoria route, passing scenic viewpoints and valleys. Continue descending to the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas for a well deserved rest.

Day 6: Descend to Chogoria Return to Nairobi
After breakfast, continue your descent through the forest zone to Chogoria town. Enjoy the final views of Mount Kenya as you complete your trek. Upon arrival, you will meet your transport and begin the journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya adventure.
