Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate Trek to Old Moses Camp

Your adventure begins with a morning drive from Nairobi to the Sirimon gate on Mount Kenya. After registration, you will begin your trek through montane forest, where you may spot wildlife such as colobus monkeys and various bird species. The trail gradually ascends into the moorland zone, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. By afternoon, you will reach Old Moses Camp, where you will relax and enjoy your first night on the mountain. .

Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton’s Camp

After breakfast, continue trekking across the scenic moorland, following a well defined trail with gentle gradients. You will pass through valleys and ridges with stunning views of the peaks ahead. As you gain altitude, the vegetation becomes more alpine, with unique high altitude plants. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon, located near the base of the main peaks of Mount Kenya. Spend the rest of the day resting and acclimatizing.

Day 3: Acclimatization at Shipton’s Camp

This day is dedicated to acclimatization to improve your chances of reaching the summit. You can take short hikes around Shipton’s Camp, exploring nearby ridges and enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. This gradual adaptation to altitude helps reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the summit attempt.

Day 4: Summit Point Lenana  Descend to Old Moses Camp

You will wake up very early for the summit attempt, trekking under the stars toward Point Lenana (4,985m). Reaching the summit at sunrise offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and distant horizons. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast and continue down to Old Moses Camp. This long but rewarding day offers both the thrill of the summit and the satisfaction of descending through beautiful scenery

Day 5: Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, continue your descent through the forest zone back to the Sirimon gate. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and final views of Mount Kenya as you complete your trek. Upon arrival, you will meet your transport and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya trekking experience.
